The food hygiene ratings and "Scores on the doors" nonsense was dreamed up by the Food Standards Agency as part of its attempt to be credible and relevant when it was first created. In truth much of the fiod safety hyoe is just that and you are not at risk of imminent death from these businesses. If you were people would be dying like flies from all these filthy ethnic food preparation prsctices.
When I was an EHO if they were filthy I just prosecuted them and if they were bad enough I shut them down.
I moved to other areas of the work after this nonsense came in because it's BS. |

Having a level 3 food safety certificate, and that I train people in food safety, I can assure you that a one star would mean closure. But then with todays society anything goes! I can only say that my organisation is very good on food safety and not one member of staff can handle food without first completing a level 2 Food course. How these food outlets get away with it is beyond me. |

I worked in a restaurant years ago and the guy in the restaurant ordered some chips they fell off the plate all over the floor in the kitchen out of sight from the customer so he the chef proceeded to pick them up put them back on the plate and serve them to the customer , off the filthy floor and I was told not to say anything and after that incident I have never ever bought takeaway since .....

While travelling to a football match I passed through Teesside and happen to notice all Donner Kebab/ Pizza Shops had 5 Star ratings but when I checked on their Local Councils Food Hygiene Standards none of them were listed or had a two, so I can only presume the Council Hygiene Officers never check. |

When you eat takeaway. It's the cheapest food and ingredients cleverly dressed up and seasoned to convince your pallet that it's good. It also arrives at no effort to yourself but that's not what I call a win.
Choose your own meat and accompaniments. Cook it yourself in your own clean kitchen and have the confidence that you know what's in it. I have heard enough stories over the years to convince me that I shouldn't eat out. Not even in the poshest of places. They too cut serious corners and make off like bandits.
Later in life, you may wish you had been more particular about what you put in your mouth but you might come to that realisation too late. |

This subject should be more widespread. Most people (not all) have a takeaway at the end of the week (some during the week) but it's a psychological thing, a form of comfort or too tired or lazy to cook. I was guilty of that until I actually saw inside a takeaway kitchen (by mistake as I opened the wrong door) I was horrified. Never again have I bought a takeaway. There are documentaries online that the Health & Safety officers have found rat droppings inside the oven of a kitchen restaurant and also within a bag of rice ???? I'm not saying all takeaways are like that. I just wouldn't take the chance anymore. They also use a powder called MSG that's also in a lot of other food. Look it up. Please start thinking everyone. We are what we eat. Especially our children ? |

Also most of these places are owned by diverse and vibrant community, who have either a partial or fully halal certified menu. Even the ones that aren't in a disgusting state, I still don't eat at them as I'm not paying a religious tax to help fund a religion that hates me. |
