Welcome back everyone, you join me out and about on the new bike, I'll tell you all about that in a minute.
But first of all, it is an absolutely stunning, beautiful day down here on the south coast.
I am just outside of Brighton, currently heading into Wollstown, into the city.
And it is a Saturday morning chat with you, my wonderful viewers.
So first of all, hope you enjoy this little format today, look at that view, absolutely gorgeous.
As you all know, I am a keen motorcyclist.
Just the other week I made a video I was out and about on the Ducati Multistrada V4S that I described as the best bike I've ever owned.
And I stick by that.
But, it's the summer.
And every year, pretty much every year, for the last, what, 25 years, I changed my bikes and have something a little bit new.
And as much as I love the Multistrada, it was getting a little bit heavy for me.
And I decided that I wanted something a little bit lighter, a little bit more friendly around town.
And that's nice, look at that.
A little bit more friendly around the sea, etc.
So, I bought the Ducati Hypermotard 950.
I'll give you a close-up of that in a while.
So, I've got a funny story to tell you about that.
I spent 40 minutes last night in the back of a police car.
Yep, 40 minutes in the back of a police car.
I was riding home late last night and all of a sudden got to within about 30, 40 yards of my house and I realised there was a flashing blue light behind me.
So, I pulled over.
And the two gentlemen police officers, who were very, very professional, very polite, nice lads, couldn't fool them.
They were absolutely excellent.
But, I picked up this bike yesterday afternoon at 3.30 in the afternoon, on Friday afternoon.
The bike is brand new.
And it wasn't showing up on their system.
So, for all they knew, they had a motorcycle rider riding around late at night in an area where motorbike theft is, let's just say, not uncommon.
And they've got someone driving around on a motorcycle with an unrecognisable number plate.
Didn't show up on their system.
No insurance showing up on their system.
So, quite rightly, they pulled me over.
I like that.
Look at that.
This is a bit of fun.
Cobra.
AC Cobra.
Sounds brilliant as well.
Look at them pipes.
So, they pulled me over and it took about 35, 40 minutes for them to eventually find the bike.
They said, have you got any documentation?
I said, well, I have indoors.
If you want to walk over to my house, I'll show you the documentation.
So, one of the police officers came to me to my front door.
The dog was going absolutely mad.
Wanted to eat him.
And it was all a big fuss and drama over nothing.
And eventually, when they found me, they were very polite, very apologetic.
And, you know, said I hope I understood.
And I said, no, look, absolutely.
A few years back, I had a bike bloody stolen in Brighton.
So, I'm pleased they're on the ball.
Well done to Sussex Police for, yeah, absolutely.
They was on it straight away.
Look at that vehicle.
Look, you're going to see some vehicles out and about near Brian today because the sun's out.
The sea is calm.
And Brian is going to be absolutely chock-a-block, no doubt.
So, yeah, new bike, new summer.
Which brings me on to the next topic.
So, I think it was around about this time last year.
Under a year ago.
I took a little break.
Things were getting on top of me a bit.
And, yeah, you know, I just needed time to spend with a family.
As you all know, my youngest daughter has moved out to Spain with my granddaughter.
Missing them immensely.
You know, we was out there a couple of weeks back with them.
And, yeah, I want to get back out to see them.
ASAP.
Just waiting for the right cheap sleazy jet flights to pop up.
This time of year, they start to go up.
If you're lucky, you can get one for about 35 quid.
And as long as you travel light, it remains a very cheap weekend away or a week away.
But if you pick the wrong dates and take a load of luggage, then all of a sudden the price goes up.
So, I want to get out to see my daughter, ASAP, and my granddaughter.
And more than anything, I need to spend a bit of time with a missus.
I mean, bless her.
For the last year.
I think in the 35 years that we've been married, we've, you know, probably had the most distant year as we've had in those years.
Not because we don't get on or we're not talking.
But because I've been so busy and, you know, YouTube has kind of consumed my life.
Which, look, I thoroughly enjoy.
Love interacting with me audience.
Love being with you guys.
Great people.
And I've got to get these mirrors right.
But, yeah, it's time that I concentrate on the family a little bit.
And that's what I intend to do over the next few weeks.
Going to have a bit of an early summer.
I eat us.
And, yeah, just get family life back where it should be.
And my daughter wants me to spend the summer out in Spain.
They've got a fairly big place that they're renting.
And there's room for us to stay.
And do you know what?
I might just take her up on that offer.
I'm seriously, seriously considering it.
And it will be fun.
Especially from the channel viewpoint.
I mean, think of the things I could do out there on the channel.
It would be really great.
And then back...
I think if I do go, it would probably be sort of like June, something like that.
Maybe stay out there June, July, August.
Or June and July.
Spend the summer all these out there and then come back.
We shall see.
Yet to be confirmed.
I mean, the wife is dead up for it.
The problem is it's at the animals.
You know, we've got the dogs and the cats.
And, you know, we've got to get someone to look after them.
And make sure they're okay.
We could take them with us.
But it's absolute aggro.
And bloody expensive as well, by the way.
So, I'm going to give you a little ride around Brighton.
I've got the new DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro.
Great little camera.
I think the most impressive thing about this little setup, hopefully, is the audio.
Hopefully, the audio is going to be nice and clear.
And you are going to, you know, get a good little view around Brighton today.
I'll show you how crazy it gets.
Where are we?
It's 12 o'clock midday on Saturday.
So, by no means at the height of the day yet.
I think it's... Brighton is usually at its busiest, I would say, around sort of 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
And then it goes on from there.
And it starts to deteriorate after about 9 o'clock.
You don't really...
Unless you're young and a bit rowdy, shall we say.
Brighton is probably not the place for you after about 9 o'clock on a Friday and a Saturday night.
No harm being done.
Just, you know, it's just a bit rowdy.
Look at the potholes everywhere, look.
Oh my God.
They started spraying white paint around all the potholes now.
Apparently, if you damage your vehicle, the white marks they've put around them prevents you from being able to sue the council.
I went through a part of Brighton the other day, the road looked like a jigsaw puzzle.
Absolutely outrageous.
Especially now considering that, you know, your council...
If you live in Brighton now, your council tax...
It's going to be... You know, £500 a year...
Sorry, £500 a month.
Maybe more in some cases.
And I suppose the question is, what the bloody hell do you get for it?
Not a lot.
So the old pier is... Out and running.
They've started recently charging non-residents to go on the pier.
If you're a resident...
It's free... To go on the pier.
If you're not a resident, you have to pay now to go on the pier.
It's a bit harsh, isn't it?
I think it's a quid or a couple of quid, whatever.
Now this hotel coming up in front of us... That one over there, I'll just point it out.
That caught light a couple of years ago.
And they've slowly been demolishing bit by bit.
It's a shame.
It's a great hotel.
That could be...
I think it's called the Royal Albion or it was... That was the prime site for any hotel, in my opinion, in Brighton.
Right bang opposite the pier.
Right on the seafront.
There it is there.
A magnificent spot.
The Royal Albion Hotel.
Victorian building, I think.
The best spot in Brighton.
And it was an absolute dive.
The hotel was an absolute dive.
But I think the Bloomsbury Group have bought the hotel.
And I'm hoping that they're going to turn it into... A hotel that will be the pride of Brighton.
Because that's what it deserves.
That should be a hotel.
I mean, look at that terrace up there.
That should be a hotel that tourists come for miles from across the world to stay in.
Let's see what they do with it.
It's not as busy as I thought it would be, to be fair.
But it is early.
Cool, you see some sights in Brighton, I'll tell you.
New bike is bloody great.
I love the sound of it.
I'll give you a quick run around of the bike when I eventually stop.
A bit old for a bike like this, really.
Hyper motored.
Bit of a hooligan bike.
But, yeah, I think as a bike enthusiast... You know, it's nice to experience as many bikes as you possibly can.
Ooh, thank you very much.
You have to watch the old other pedestrian.
There's a lot of students around Brighton.
They're not shy.
They just walk out in front of you.
There she is.
Wonderful.
No!
Looks like a mess.
It's still negative.
It's true.
Just come back.
Let's do the short?o.
Let's do the short.
I don't know where the idea is...
It's right there's energy...
I don't know where it was.
You know, too, I think it's onlyéis.
And you know, we have to smoke out on... You know, that's late in front of me.
Yeah, I think as I said to you just recently, I think there comes a time when you've got to stop bringing your audience continual bad news, everyone knows what's wrong, and try and uplift people's spirits a little bit.
And it's summer, so I think it's time for just that.
Hopefully you guys will enjoy it.
Let's go down by the old Royal Pavilion.
The pubs around here are crazy on a Friday and a Saturday night.
And there's a lot of them.
I think you can eat and drink out every night of the year in Brighton for an entire year.
And you still will not have seen all the pubs or all the restaurants in the city.
The only other city that I've been to that I saw would compare with Brighton, albeit very differently, is Newcastle.
Newcastle on a Friday and a Saturday night, what a great place.
But I would say the demographics are definitely different.
In Newcastle, it's all like, you know, what I would say, very traditional British people, you know, just run-of-the-mill men and women.
In Brighton, it's much more diverse and, you know, a little bit, you know, a bit different.
But the atmosphere is, I think, quite similar.
Obviously, we've got the University down here.
Which makes it quite a left-leaning city.
Certainly in comparison, I would think, to Newcastle.
But, you know, if you've been to Newcastle on a Friday or a Saturday night, you kind of get the vibe.
This is a bit you've got to love about being on a bike.
It's beating all the traffic.
What's not to like, eh?
Look at that.
Look at that.
Look at that.
Look at that.
Look at that.
Look at that.
Look at that.
Look at that.
So, just a little test video, really, on the new bike with the new Osmo Action 5 and the new Audio.
That was a bit tight.
Look at that.
Look at the state of the roads, look.
Oh, my God.
Unbelievable.
So, we've got the pier coming up right in front of us.
You go along a nice, big, flat, bare road, and then all of a sudden, you come... You come to holes.
You could literally plant the garden in it.
Unbelievable.
Total mess.
Right across the UK, it's like that right now.
They've got to get these bloody roads all the way down.
I mean, there must be people...
I reckon there's people...
Probably being seriously injured, if not worse, every day.
Right across the country, where they're going to fall victim of these bloody potholes.
It's disgraceful.
I hope someone's having a run over there.
Count me out of that one.
This is a lovely old bit of Brighton.
This bit here.
There's been a few films filmed here.
I think Quadrophenia was one of them.
Jigsaw was another.
If you want to catch up with my favourite film...
I love the old black and white films.
Love them.
If you want to catch up with a magnificent old British black and white film... that was filmed right along this part of the coast... in one of the shops back there, where I've just shown you.
It's called Jigsaw.
And it's on YouTube.
It's a 1960...
I think it's 1963, the film.
It's a murder mystery.
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant film.
And some magnificent views of Old Brighton.
The boats are out today as well.
They come up from the marina, which is just up there.
It's a lovely place, Brian.
It's a nice place to live.
This is fairly new.
They've been doing a bit of building work here.
There's some more going on.
It's a lovely place, Brian.
It's a nice place to live.
As long as you don't mind the sometimes unusual diversity.
They don't bother me quite honestly.
Live and let live.
As long as they don't affect me.
I don't care what people do.
As long as they're happy that's all that counts.
And as long as it doesn't make anyone else unhappy.
I think that's decent enough.
There's the marina right up there in front of us.
Probably looks a fair weight on the camera.
Right guys.
I hope you've enjoyed that.
But before I go.
What I'm going to do is.
I'm just going to park up in a moment.
I'm going to jump off the bike.
Give you a quick look.
So you can see the summer ride 2025.
It's a good deal for me really.
Because the old Multistrada was worth quite a bit of money.
This bike is actually quite a lot cheaper.
So I managed to change in the bike and get some change out of it.
Which is always a bonus right.
Oh I'm stuck on the lights here.
Never mind.
Here we go.
Looks like Brighton are playing at home today.
I've seen a lot of Brighton shirts around already.
So er... Yeah this bike has er all sorts of settings on it.
You've got er the quick shifter.
You've got the traction control.
You've got the anti er... sorry the ABS.
And you have dynamic wheelie control as well.
Which is currently dialed in at three.
This bike is er...
Very powerful and very light.
So er... if you hit the throttle a bit lively.
The front will... will come up er... without any asking.
So er...
I tend to leave that on er... A fairly firm setting.
Keep the front er... keep the front end down and safe.
Alright let's jump off and give you a quick look at the bike.
Hopefully you can see it.
There you go.
What do you reckon?
Nice looking thing innit?
Bit different.
Yep.
Gonna enjoy that.
Hopefully this summer.
Fingers crossed.
Right.
Time to go home I think.
Thanks for joining us as always.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Stay safe and er... as usual.
Look after those lovely children.
See you later everyone.
Take care.
