At a £1 million per council they never had any real intention of doing much of an inquiry in the first. One inquiry going on at the moment is already up to eight million and isn’t done yet but the government always has a spare million in the budget somewhere and it sounds like a lot of money to the public. It got them over the hump and now those spare millions are going to be reallocated to some other budget that is causing ructions somewhere. It’s entirely possible they will never actually be spent on anything just continually shifted around the books throughout the financial year to make the government look good for a couple of weeks until the heat goes away. |
